Default Mangled Transmission filler plug

Ok so my transmission filler plug is a bit mangled any good suggestions for getting out without dropping the pan ?
I can still get a 8mm hex in there and tightish but damm the bolt was torqued in good. It is starting to strip out, where the hex key fits and no bolt movement, and yes lots of penetrating oil. The bolt has only been in for 4 months, I had the transmission serviced in the spring but wanted to check the fluid level,so far that is not looking good.
A pan is not a terrible price but there has to be a way to get that bolt out.

Richard,
I may have a spare transmission pan if you need one.

Try a little heat around the plug, nothing crazy...but just warm it up some.

Brian.

I had the same problem a year ago, although it may have been the transmission drain plug. I was making plans to drill it and use a screw extractor (EZ Out), but I instead used a pair of Vise Grips and it came out easily.

I also have a spare pan - vise grip is a good idea also. If that does not work, take a chisel to the outer edge and hammer tangential to the diameter so it digs in and turns the bolt. It will likely come loose with that impact.
