Manifold to Y pipe gaskets failed after days
I had the gaskets replaced but within a couple days noise was back. Jammed the leaf blower up the tailpipe and sprayed soapy water everywhere. Big time bubbles where manifold meets y pipe.
Is there a trick to getting a good permanent seal. Sucks to have to do this over again.

One thing I noticed when I had this done was that the shop put the new Y pipe on when the truck was not stone cold. I drove it to the shop probably 13 miles then it sat for maybe an hour and they did the Y pipe... This means that the bolts on the studs will tighten further when it is all the way cold, due to thermal expansion/contraction. Try tightening the bolts down before you drive it... Worked for me. Easiest done from underneath with an extension.

Double gasketed one of mine, worked fine. Usually, if l have the y-pipe off...l'll flat file the top of the flange, making it true again. And, l'll do the same to an exhaust manifold, if l have it off. They can get pretty wonky, from all of the heat cycles and old age. But yeah, doubling the gasket worked for me in one case.
