Manual sunroof
Hey, I've looked all over to see if there is another thread about this and I cant find anything, so here goes. I have a 95 DI and was wondering if land rover makes a manual sunroof for it? neither my front or rear roof work very well so I siliconed them for the winter so there was no threat of leaks so come summer money willing I want to replace both their guts but was thinking of going manual for easiness down the road. is there any such thing. thanks
I don't think installing a hand crank would be worth your time, however I'm sure it is possible. You would probably need to fab up some kind of bracket for the crank, as well as find the correct size gear and gear thread for the cables to be able crank.
Drop the headliner, remove the sunroof motor and you'll see what I mean. I think it would ultimately be in your best interest to keep the electric sunroof assembly and replace/repair necessary parts.

If it's just the motor or controller that's the problem, the motor has a female hex drive on it so you can turn it with an allen wrench so you could certainly rig up some sort of manual crank and epoxy it in to the hex opening.
Disco's came with manual sunroofs in ROW markets. I have two of them for mine. Unfortunately, they are smaller than the electric ones, so the only way to install one is to weld in a piece of sheet metal then cut the smaller opening to fit new sunroof.
