Default manually locking the diff 00 disco

I'd like to get a conversion kit or maybe that electronic actuator kit for the locking diff, but in the meantime i understand it can be done manually under the car by turning a 10mm nut on top of the xfer case.

i was wondring, can it be turned farther in either direction for lock/not locked, and which direction is which? (clockwise/in/down or counter/out/up from the prespective of looking down from above the car with the front of the car facing up/north)

can you fit a socket and ratchet wrench up there, or must it be done blind with an open ended wrench?

i fear over turning it in either direction, or not being able to find lock/unlocked if they are specfic points and doing stupid damage by simple means of ignorance!

Use a 10mm wrench...feel for the shift nipple on top of the transfer case and turn it clock wise and your CDL will be locked.

ok so down into the xfer case locks... but how far do you turn it, a certain angle, certain number of complete turns, or until it stops? (and vice versa to unlock)

Turn till it stops either way, it can only go so far.

single ~45 degree clock wise turn...opposite to dis-engage.

Me too. You will hear the internal gears lock or go "click".

As I recall, you should also have a light come on the dash and I think the abs and a couple of the other lights come on when it is engaged. Phil
