Default Matching tire speed ratings

I've got a set of 255/55/r18 Bridgestone Dueler H/L Alenza 109H tires on my truck currently, and a guy almost sideswiped me, sending me up the curb HARD, and giving me two nice gashes in my passenger side tires. They're not leaking, but I'm on borrowed time. The two remaining tires have 8/32 on them, so I'd rather not replace all four.

I've found a pair on ebay that look good are replacements, but they're 109W instead of 109H. Is that going to cause me any problems?

I don't think this website will address your specific question, but take a peek anyhow

That's for changing the size of the tire. These tires are identical to what I have, they simply have a higher speed rating.

The load index on those 2 tire are the same at 2,271 lbs, but the set with the W has a higher speed rating for up to 168mph where the H rated ones are good for 130mph. Either are faster than you will ever see in a Discovery.
You can find that info on the tireracks website if you look around for it.

I know that they're both rated far higher than any speed my discovery ever sees. I'm just curious if there's any potential problem running them together.

i've run different rated tires and different tires, with no problems.I would think you should be fine, as long as they are the same size. it is possible, they may, ever so slightly, wear differently. especially if are going over 130mph

My disco came with tires that had good tread. But one was a Goodyear and other 3 were dueler 109h tires. Seemed to be fine to me, and I picked up a used dueler off eBay for a spare but left Goodyear on.

Ever since I've owned the disco it has shook/vibrated when I hit 70mph, which isn't often.

Figured it was a "feature" of the rover so I just never topped 70 and it didn't bother me.

Last week I was mentioning this to a friend and he immediately looked at my tires. The Goodyear looked off to him. Tread was fine but wear was off he said or something like that.

Put the eBay dueler on my truck and now I can go 75 with no shake whatsoever.

My thought would be to get the same exact tire. I got a nice one for like $50 on eBay.

Just my experience, figured I'd share. I also still run dexcool and the 190 thermostat, so I might be off my rocker. Then again, my temps rarely break 188 and I only broke 200 once.

Check eBay for a used tire on the same variety so everything matches.

I sold tires for years - there will be no problem running mismatched speed ratings.

I personally would pair the tires up with similar tires on each axle (i.e. put the new tires on the front and the two good old tires on the back).
