Suede has a good idea, a bad catalytic converter will "tick" when it starts to fall apart on the inside.
With the engine off crawl under the truck and tap the cats with a wood block or a small hammer or even your fist.
If they sound like a baby rattle time for new ones.
This rattle has fooled many a person into thinking there was a more serious problem.
That noise from the cats can travel up the exhaust pipes and sound like it is in the engine.

Checked .. Cats .. No Noise. went for a second opinion and I didnt get far. This guy said that It could be Possible since he felt a rough Idle for about 5 seconds then Off. then Back On after 30 seconds.. He could not tell for Shure with out taking the Pan off. I never heard anything.

As for the Lifters. Well It´s defenetly Not a Tic Tic Tic. But I will tell the work shop to rule that Out Before going Into the Rod job.

Should I get a third Opinion?
Rods Are 50$ plus $ 100 In Labour .. I Figure what the hell It´s worh my Peace of Mind.

Am I missing something.

Thanks Again Guys.

You dont need rods, just the rod bearings.

http://roverparts.com/Parts/STC1426.cfm

This is what they are saying you need.

http://roverparts.com/Parts/ERR4837G.cfm

This is a connecting rod, the big end is what connects to your crank shaft, the small end connects to your piston.
You would need 8 of them.

Just replacing the bearings is no big deal and for $150 if it give you piece of mind go for it.

The bearings go inside the big end of the connecting rod, it unbolts, the small piece comes off, new bearing goes on top and bottom, bolt it back up.
It bolts over your crank shaft.

Spike . I Just got my truck back from the shop. and My new mechanic witch seems very good ( changed Rod Bearings ) I saw the old ones and they seemed slightly scratched.
He told me that It is a possibility that this would not be the end of it and that in couple of months I will Know if I need a complete Overhaul that It is very dificult to Know if the cranckshaft is going out. I notice a very slight hessitation on my truck when I turn the AC on or when I am coming to a stop But Probably I´m being paranoied by now.

What Next ? I really dont want to spend More money on the Thing ... I have a new ( used ) T case on the way and was hoping that when I changed It .. my Truck would be Ok and I could Use it on the weekends or when going to my Ranch. ( weekend Home ).

I replied to your PM.

Here is basically what I told him...just drive it man, keep using premium gas, Castrol full syn 20w-50 changing it every 5,000 miles and forget about it.
Enjoy the truck.
Lifes to short to sweat the small stuff.

Next time you change your oil strain the oil through an old white sheet and check for metal filings.
