Im up to about 165k on my 04, but I had to put a block sealer in at about 143k.

'04
47k.
Oil pump disintegrated and took out the timing chain. Lucky, I guess.
GPR rebuilt the motor.

I've been around here for a few years and have seen more 04's blow up then any other year, just an observation based on posts.

I picked up an 04 with a slipped liner that popped up at 147k. Hence why I got the disco for so cheap.

I just rebuilt the engine with a bare block and heads with only 77k. They tested out 100%, but I'm taking all the precautions to make sure it lasts.

Pinned the liners
Replacing the entire cooling system. 180 T-stat, all hoses, new Nissens rad.
Ultragauge to keep an eye on temps.
After initial break in I'm running ceramic sealer through the cooling system in the block to seal any imperfections and microcracks that may already be there.

The same one PinkyToe used.

Then I'll have a little more peace of mind for the next 100k miles.

Thats because all the 03 were warrented, how many people with 03 really know what block started out in their truck.
you have to someone like us that would go to the bother the track it back, most have no idea.

good point, I bought the truck with 67k on the clock, have no idea if it's the original.

Is there any way to tell if a truck has the original block? Matching Vin to block number or something like that?

Ha me too after reading over the responses.. I don't mind putting a top hat block in mine eventually but I hope it at least lasts a while with all the work I've done recently. It'll be interesting to see what happens I suppose..

Thanks for all the replies.
