Default misfire cyl.6/rough running 00discoII

Started running rough a few days ago. [:'(]Check engine light came on so I stopped by my independant mechanic who said I was showing a 6th cyl misfire. he thinks I may have gotten some bad gas so I filled up with premium and ran 3/4 of a tank thru with some water out and fuel inj cleaner. Still rough running, actually worse. [:@]Now mechanic thinks it may be a fuel injector. Any ideas?
Plugs are new, plug wires are semi-new.

P.S. It was just running rough at lower speeds but now it runs rough(somewhat) up to, and at, the speed limit. When its really acting up the CEL will flash.

first off you should not frive it if the CEL is flashing. I would check plug wire for any visable damage, then check spark plug. Check for spark on that cyl. I would bet that is the problem.

with the cel flashing, running it is not a good thing. could mean big problems if you do run it. If you mech says it is the 6th. then change the plug and wire and see if it helps. If that is not the problem have the mech do a wet and dry compression test. It can give you valve and ring information. the the injector for damage and have the overall pressure on the rail checked. Then look at the injector. Last but not least do a full tune up and it may fix the problem and your maintainance will be up to date for that part. hope it helps. spark is the problem so that is the starting point. gotta love a rover. duboff

Will check the plug wires and plugs tomorrow. I can only hope its something that simple but with my luck..... Since the first of the year I've spent around 1800.00 on the beast. Head gasket, new plugs, power steering pump, heater hose, thermostat, misc. hoses, timing chain, others I've forgot to mention I'm sure. I just picked it up LAST WEEK from having the power steering pump replaced when this crap started this week. I keep saying "next thing that goes wrong its SOLD...well, I can't keep the thing running long enough to sell it. Thats why once you own a LR you always will. Its not because you love it, its because you can't get it fixed long enough to sell it. hehehe

"Last but not least do a full tune up" hehehehe ROFLMAO - it gets a full tune up monthly!
It stays at my mechanics house more than it does mine (you think I'm kidding don't you)

Dropped it off at my mechanics house. He is still thinking its a fuel injector.
I was mistaken, its the SES light not the CEL thats flashing.
I did change plugs and it didn't make any difference. Plugs wires have to
be ordered or picked up at LR which is 2 hour drive. I'll just wait and
see what my mechanic recommends Monday.

Well, it was bad plug wires and I had a core pack gone. So 80.00 for plug wires(sorry Bene, I had alreayd ordered them when I read your post)
and 70.00 for core pack (plus labor) and hopefully I'll have my rover back by the weekend.
Woo-Hoo!!!!!!!!

Now how long will this bliss last?
