So do you think its the catalytic converter or the spark plugs and plug wires or a combination of both? I will be removing the spark plugs tomorrow evening. I dont understand exactly what you mean by "catalyst damaging misfire". Does it mean the misfire cause the damage to the catalytic converter or the catalytic converter is causing the misfire?

I think it just means the mis fire (backfire) was so bad it caould cause damage to the catalyst. Not sure though...

I don't think your cat is causing anything. I agree with Mike, Magnacor wires and new plugs

Any tricks for replacing the plug wires. Just by looking at them yesterday they seemed to be tricky. Just wanted to know before i start working on it this evening.

Hey Mike, got plug number 3 out and the center contact is black, sooty, and burnt completely. It looks like the white ceramic part is burnt on one side like an electrical burn. Also, should I use Never-Seez when reinstalling new plugs? The rest of the plugs are black as well but not as bad as number 3. Changed all the plugs and still misfires. Guess plug wires are next.

If its not the wires, maybe the coil pack. The number 2 and 3 plug wires are on the same coil pack correct?

In case you all were wondering. My case ended up being the coil pack where both cylinders 2 and 3 are located.
