Question Misfiring on Cylinders 4 and 8

Hello all, I am having an issue of my Disco misfiring on cylinders 4 and 8 (P1300, P0308, and P0304 codes) despite changing plugs and wires and testing other plugs and wires that are working on those cylinders. I did unplug the MAF to see if that made a difference and I no longer get any misfire or misfire codes just codes related to the unplugged MAF making me think perhaps that is the issue. I am also considering that it could be the coil packs due to age though those cylinders are on separate coil packs or possibly injectors as I unplugged them when I swapped the valve cover gaskets the other day, but to get at those I would need to pull the intake manifold again, which I'm hesitant to do without checking to see if maybe it is a MAF issue first from you knowledgeable folks and without dropping the money on a new MAF ***** nilly.

Thanks in advance for any help!

A quick update, after disconnecting and reconnecting the MAF I am only seeing a pending code for a misfire on cylinder 4, not 8 and its still running rough. I may end up buying a MAF from autozone or something to swap and see if it fixes the problem, but I hate to just throw parts at a problem.

Unplug the maf completely and see if it goes away. It probably won't but it's easy to try. The other thing to try is to swap the coils left to right and see if the misfire follows the coil positions. If it does four should go to 5 and 8 should go to seven. Then you know it's bad coils

unplugging the MAF does seem to make it go away and just gives me codes related to the MAF without the misfires, but I haven't run it for very long so I'll let it sit for a while and watch for codes. The engine certainly does sound better at least with the unplugged MAF, though it idles high around 1100-1200 RPMs instead of the usual 750ish. I may still swap the coils around though since it easy now that I installed your relocation kit and I don't have to destroy my hands and remove the intake manifold to do so. I appreciate the suggestions

I found this connector was left loose accidentally when I reassembled everything yesterday, I plugged it in and went for a quick drive with no codes or pending codes so fingers crossed this may have been the issue. As a side note, does anyone know what it is? looks like something to do with the fuel system

LOL yeah that is the throttle body sensor. I think you found your issue.
