missfire cyl 1 - replaced coil packs, plugs and leads - still misfiring....
#21
Knock on wood....
Hopefully this is the final update to this near burnout and almost torching of my truck.....
Replaced the #1cyl injector and now after 2 days of driving the truck runs beautifully.
One of the techs here at the Rover dealership i work at was a tech in Australia and says these fuel systems over time can have air pockets in them and more than likely I had one at the "end" of the fuel line - #1cyl. Not sure if the injector was bad or if it was an air pocked but the system was thoroughly bled and she runs great now.
So when you have a misfire, this goes to show that you can replace the spark plug(s), wire(s), coil pack(s) and still not figure out what it is until you have replaced everything..... Please God let this be it for a looooooooong time......
Thanks again to everyone who reached out with assistance, especially to those who mentioned the injectors. It did turn out that there was some discoloration at the end of the injector.

Hey guys, I'm new to this forum. Im driving a 2000 discovery 2 with 150k miles. I've had it for a little over 2 years and havent had much trouble with it really. Until now, I'm having the exact same issue as the OP, only I havent replaced the coil packs yet. I plan on doing it this weekend when I get the intake manifold gasket in the mail. I feel like the fuel injector problem sounds more like my issue, but everyone is telling me to replace the coil packs first. I've replace plugs and cables. At first I was just having cylinder 1 missfire code. But after replacing the plug wires, #1 and #8 are misfiring, also throwing a random missfire too. Let's say the coil pack doesnt fix it, how hard is it to replace the fuel injectors? The coil pack was only 50$ so I figure I might as well do it just to cross it off the list.
I will say this, whenever I replaced the spark plug wires, I could hear a "clicking" noice coming from the coil pack area (behind engine) and sounded like an electrical arc. Please help with advice/input. Thank you in advance

Also, everyone please remember, mileage isnt the only thing that kills parts, age. Just because a vehicle has low miles, you have to think about how old the parts are. My 01 injectors went south last year, truck ran much better after I changed them. Many others will be having the same issues, if not now, soon.

Clicking = arching.

For $50 or so when doing HG’s it’s worth remanned injectors, or even when doing coilpacks.
