Moab Trip Late August
Hello everyone,
After doing some maintenance, I believe it is time to take the D2 out and stretch her legs out. My plan is too drive from Wisco to the Moab and end up home labor day. My wife (borat voice) and I will be camping in National Forests, state parks, or anywhere we can along the way.
My plan is to get to Arches National Park and the trails and feel out the vibe and gauge how the condition of the D2 before hitting any trails.
I am a complete novice being on trails. Does anyone have any recommendations for trails and or general advice for taking discos to the Moab?
I don't want to be unprepared and stuck in the elements in summer. Seems like a bad idea. So any advice is greatly appreciated
Thanks.

Skip Moab and go run around the San Juans that time of year (Telluride, Silverton, Ouray, Lake City). Trails are all much easier (bumpy shelf roads aside from Poughkeepsie Gulch - the wall obstacle being the only issue on that trail and Black Bear Pass - not actually hard but very visually intimidating), better views (might catch some early leaves changing) and cooler temps. Still lots of camping options around, wife and I just spent 8-9 days in the area around the 4th of July. Personally I keep Moab for winter trips (I'm a lot closer so easier to manage storms on travel days...) but I dislike the heat and don't see it worth the risk to any vehicle to be wheeling Moab in the dead of summer.
I made the trip to Moab from Jacksonville earlier this year. Really had a blast and a lot of challenges but it was definitely worth it - even with gas at $4.30. Link to my thread here. https://landroverforums.com/forum/di...59/#post817469
