Default Modify thermostat

So I have an old thermostat and decided to cut it open and it looks like a normal thermostat. I found a 180 degree that fit in perfectly. I sealed it up and and am thinking of giving it a try. Has anyone does this? Last thing I want to do is damage my rover.

IMHO, this is not a good idea.
True the thermostat is nothing special BUT the plastic housing uses a sonic weld to keep it water tight.
What did you use to seal the housing?

I used two types of adhesives. One inside that is more of a high temp gasket and then outside I used something we use on signs that weld plastics together.

Sounds like a plan, I hope it works for you.
I think minimally I would rig up some caps and hoses to pressure test this experiment before it gets mounted to the truck.

Good Luck!

Yeah, that’s what I was thinking.

Why not just buy a genuine 180F thermostat in the first place? I’d hunt down a real 180F britpart unit and call it a day for 30.00.

It was just something to do. I had the tools and the time.
