And yes, it is definitely in limp mode. I wouldn’t be surprised if something chewed through the wires. I have no idea how long it has been sitting, but looking at the registration I found I would guess it has been off the road for 2+ years. It also won't start without a jump, so maybe that is sending the trans computer on the fritz.

A fresh battery and clean battery cable terminals would be a good starting point. Plus, check ground cable at alternator bracket bolt, remove and clean, it will look fine, but corrosion will be found between terminal and bracket. Once that is sorted, l'd take a long hard look at the XYZ switch on trans. If floor boards are all wet, fuse boxes and computers would have to be looked over too.

If Extinct is close by, couldn't ask for a more knowledgeable asset.

I’m in Winston-Salem for a few more months, then will be moving to Virginia. Like I mentioned in post 10, the junkyard was a BMW shop right on the NC side of the border near Greer, SC. I believe they typically pull and sell parts on FB Marketplace, that’s how I found them. Don’t think they typically let people in. Feel free to PM me for info.

You don’t see Monte Carlos much at all. I’m not sure if it’s true, but from what I have read, it was the color used on the dealer documentation and was the feature color for the 2003 MY. I know the Icelandic Blue is the color that only 200 were imported to the US. I don’t know how many Monte Carlo’s are around, but its not many.

Monte Carlo looks pretty stellar cleaned up:

That color is Icelandic Blue. Super cool. Only other color I would want. That is a score.

Your M&S lights are probably low voltage. Try starting it with a fully charged battery. And a jump box. Any voltage below 12xxxx will put it in limp mode.
