motor mounts on disco II
ARE THE MOTOR MOUNTS REALLY MADE OF RUBBER ?? IS IT REALLY TRUE THAT THEY ARE REQUIRED TO HOLD THE ENGINE IN PLACE SO THEY CAN TAKE OUT THE OLD TRANNY? THE MECHANIC SAID RUBBER AND GLUE.
Is this a surprise to you??
Nealy all motor mounts are made of rubber and some sort of a metal backing plate.
No they are not designed so you can remove the tranny, boy your mechanic needs to gather up his little red tool box and start selling apples on the corner.
All engines are mounted to the fram of a vehicle as is the tranny, other wise when you speed up it would jump right out of the engine compartment.

so is false when he says to me that they can't take out the tranny til the mounts arrive ? he said mine were in need of replacing and that those had to come in bofore he could remove the old part.
