Unhappy Motor swap question

I have an 02 with the 4.0. Can I swap to a 4.6 with relative ease? Ie will it fit the mounts, trans and transfer case. Would the key still work? Are there any other motors that can fit- ie ford/gm.

My head gasket blew and the motors overheated a few times, so I'm bracing for the worst case. As long as the block didn't crack, can it b machined if it warped?

Any luck with crate motors? I haven't seem a whole lot of reassuring threads. Just looking at all options.

Thanks in advance

Easy plug and play with no changes needing to be made.
Might want to inspect both the donor engines rear main and the tranny front pump seal and replace if needed.
How many miles are on your truck, has your radiator ever been replaced, if not, might want to buy a new one, British Parts of Utah, has a great price on made in Scottland, I just bought one a couple weeks ago.
Replace the t/stat switching to a 180 degree soft spring and go green on the coolant.

call Will Tillery and get a price on the 4.6 setup shipped to you. no other motors are going fit easily. if your motor overheated more then once, i guarantee it's toast.

Thanks! It has 90k. Does it matter if its a secondary air or not? There are no emissions tests where I live. I noticed a link at the bottom of your thread to roverguys.com and the next poster mention Will. Have you had any experience with them?

Can it be machined, or is it complete scrap?

Yes, they can shave the heads provided they're not too far out of spec. I think the manual says 0.02in max. Search the forum for head gasket and you will get tons of info and answers to your questions

you better do a leak down and pressure test. the way you said you overheated it multiple times u better makes sure the block isnt toast.

MOST 4.6L (but not all) from a Disco are going to be SAI. If it came from a Ranger Rover, it might be easier to find one without SAI. If your truck is SAI, you should be good to go. If it is not, just plug the holes on the new 4.6L.
