I havea simalar high idle woe and resetting my base idle changed maybe 500 rpm's in my disco, thenI get a total stall, spent a half of hour setting it back to a no stall idle. Its a great idea, but I think this would cause more time and aggravation by just turning the screw like I did. The "testbook" procedure would be the way to go.

yes, that would be the correct way to reset base idle, just turnin the screw you have no idea of what count your IAC is on. you need it to be from 20-35 counts. not just where the idel sounds good, but where it can properly adjust the idle air the engine needs.

Don't put a bandaid on it, forget resetting the base idle and fix whatever is the real problem.

ok a few updates. it's not the stepper motor. put a third one on it and it did the same thing. no vacuum leaks. land rover mechanic in tampa had a machine that pumped smoke into the engine to test for leaks. hooked it up to a computer and it showed no fault codes having to do with high idle. he tells me the next step he would take is a computer. he's an english dude that has been working on rovers since 1971. that's the reason i went to him. he has the Autologic diagnostic computer and it came up with nothing. anyway, that's what i know now. any other ideas? Also if anyone lived in the tampa, orlando florida area and has a disco with the same computer as mine, i'd really appreciate trying to see what hooking your up to my car would do.
