Default My Brake Job

So I recently bought a 98 discovery. Drove it all over the place and I friggin love it. Day comes when I need to go over the mountians to go to a concert, so I take the truck. To make a long story short, the brakes didn't make noise at all before the trip, but by the time I got home, one of them had burned a groove into one side of a rotor. Call me what you will... The reason why I'm posting this is due to the fact I couldn't really find anything on how to pull the hubs. Tidbits here and there... I bought a Bentley Manual, what I got from this site, other sites, other manuals on other cars, advise, and I replaced my front rotors and regreased my wheel bearings. I thought at the least I should share my pics with my fellow land rover owners who might need them. I find out now the pics are too big and I'm out of time. Will put up in edit

Just don't do what my neighbor did. He put his new brake pads on backwards. Metal on metal. Time for some new rotors and pads.

I actually just ordered new pads and rotors for my D1. I have a Haynes manual and it has pretty good instructions on what needs to be done. That being said, I can't really get a true grasp of how big the job is going to be just by reading through the instructions. Hw long did it take you to do the work? Did you need any specials tools do complete it?

Any input is appreciated. Thanks

While your in there you might as well relace bearings and rear hub seal..The hardest part of the job for me was taking old rotor off thehub..Be careful with the calipers or you will be replacing brake pipe as well,,,Looking back I wish I
would have replaced rubber hose with stainless flex, Its not really a bad job though..This helped me,,,,http://www.4x4wire.com/rover/mainten...heel_bearings/

Taking the rotor off the hub: Put the wheel you've taken off face down on a mat. Put the wheel studs of the hub through the holes in the wheel. Sit on the tyre with a breaker bar and socket in hand. Undo the bi-hex nuts holding the rotor on - piece of cake

good tip Adz ... the only reason I said the rotors were hard to remove was that they were frozen on the hub and it took some ball bean persuasion to get them apart

When I redid mine awhile back, I used the combination of a good mallet and liberal soaking with PB Blaster penetrating oil.
