are you talking crankshaft or camshaft sensor?

you might want to start a new thread with the year of your Discovery and as much detail related to the issue(s) you are having.

Also CPS, just like previous poster. Run on starting fluid means the CPS has turned off the injectors, assuming you have fuel pressure at the rail.
