Default My First D2, a 99 (or also known as My God What have I done)

Well, bought a 99 Discovery 2 today. A repair shop has had it for a few years, they did a water pump leak fix and the customers never paid the bill. Checked it all out, he even lent me a scanner to see what codes were inside. Only the ABS was registering a code, a sensor. Seems to run and drive fine. ACE and SLS seem to work. The rear bags lost pressure over the course of a week, pumped right back up, compressor was almost silent. Needs a thorough cleaning, but best part no rust in the floors, and surface rust in the very back section of the frame. 140,000 miles. Already ordered a Thermostat kit (Thanks Tim!). Please remember me as being a happy person on this day, and remind me of this in the future...:-)

Im in it now...

Thanks! It was on Craigslist. I am finding most people don't like to pay the $5 on the car ads, so they are listing stuff in other categories. I just look in the "all for sale". I now have to get it home, which is about 180 miles. The front prop shaft looks stock, so will trailer it home. The gas probably isn't fresh, so will drain and refill or dump some cleaner in it.

Your welcome! Never underestimate what people will do to avoid a small fee..lol. Another one is the FB marketplace, it is not consistent to what it shows you. I sometimes run a search in a really small town, away from me a bit, which will likely have no results, and then it opens the floodgates and includes stuff 500 miles away. I am in western Nebraska, so I always get to see what Colorado and western KS have to offer.

A few parts needed, one dent on the passenger rear quarter, but looks to be able to pushed out ok. But overall excited.

Great find, I love the ACE system and the rear SLS system. Start with the PCV mod and any plastic in the cooling system that is not obviously new. Search my post for the preventative maintenance list, do those to prevent more costly expenses.

PCV already ordered. And the remote thermostat kit. Will inspect the radiator. The water pump is relatively new. A bunch of fluid changes are coming...:-)
