Default My tick is Gone!

So i bought this 04 disco II (85k miles) about 2 months ago. I was hesitant to buy it because it had a slight rough idle and tick. Well When i got it home it was ticking loud. I took the car back to the guys I bought it from (used dealer). They ended up taking care of me and put a motor with 42k miles in it! This thing runs great now. I will be monitoring everything with this motor. A coolant temp gauge an oil pressure gauge are on order. Then I am going to rebuild the front DS.

No, first you deal with the drive shaft, that when it fails will take out your tranny for a $3000 repair, then do my entire major service posted at the top of this section, the do you gauges.

hey I am new here so get ready for some dumb questions.. I recently bought a 01 dicso 2 SE.. has the loud ticking after running a bit.. I was told a heavier oil might help "a little bit".. is this true? is the tick the sound of something being damaged further? thanks in advance.. ive been reading these threads for a bit and I feel like i just joined a battered wives club hahaa.. but im happy see everybody still loves and stands by their rover

1. Heavy oil may mask sound, but won't fix problem.

2. Two good possibilities are issues with Secondary Air Injection pump and devices; and more common oil pump cracked. You can run manual oil pressure test, both hot and cold, idle and 2500 rpm.

3. Nasty possibility is slipped sleeve from overheating.

So, yes, these are things that will hurt your truck, and soon. Full shop manual and owner manual set for download below, called the RAVE.
