Sorry for no updates and the delay but I finally bought, and installed the new /used switch and still only reverse. Could it be the insallation process or maybe a faulty computer? Should I just install a new tranny?

You have the 22 or 24 series transmission. Burnt and brown is the fiber from the clutches. You need new clutches, lip seals, sprag and a HD planetary. Easy fix if you do it yourself. If the steels are blue you will need them as well.

Probably about 500.00 for the DIY

Is there a kit that I can purchase? Maybe a write up on how to ? Seems pretty. Complex don't know much about transmissions.
Thanks,

If you need a tranny (& i'm not saying you do) you can get a used one for approx. $350 change the fliud and filter and put it in. You do not want your first tranny rebuild to be on a ZF transmission.

Tips.

1. There is alot to be said for a lack of lubrication. PB blaster is your best friend. use liberally on subframe bolts.
2. Check your flex plate while you are in there.
3. Now would be a good time to replace your rear main seal. Would suck for you to have to remove the new trans in another 6 months.

Also I big one that will cost you a ton of money, make sure the converter is seated.

I have seen this so many time I cant even remember, the converter go in turns and then goes in again.

So, so many times people fill the converter and then stuff it on and think is home, only to truck the truck a wipe out the splines on the front pump.

the result is replacing the front pump or having to buy another used tranny.
