Greetings!

I'm new here, and bought a 04 Disco II last month. I was having a look under the vehicle today (nothing bad, just "exploring"), and noticed this black cap sticking out, not in place.

I attempted to seat it properly, but apparently it is a.) to big for the opening and b.) damaged.

What is it and where does it go? Please advise!

Thats to plug a hole in the rear of the oil pan. I cant recall why its there. You'll want to replace it to keep crap out of your bell housing. When they get oil soaked they expand and are almost impossible to get back in place. You can get a replacement at roverparts.com or any other rover parts seller.

 

That is to access the flywheel flex plate bolts

Here is what it looks like new. I've replaced a few that were missing or damaged. I'm almost positive there are two, one on each side. It covers the inspection holes that allow you too examine the flywheel or remove torque converter bolts.
