long story but ive ended up with a 1996 300Tdi to sell that my sister bought by accident.
I want to know what the button on the centre of dash with a pic of what looks like a motorway sign on it does?

ahhhh I see...does it only work when your at speed i.e over 50mph or something?

to my understanding it works at speeds 55 mph and above.

Correction...should be able to engage at any speed over 30MPH. You have to push that button in, then the controls on the wheel for setting the speed are kinda self explanatory. If you try it and the cruise does not work, thent he vaccum lines are likely cracked...very easy and cheap to replace, they are the black tubes in the engine bay, mabye 1/4" round. One goes to the throttle cable assembly, from here it travles to a T connector, with one end going to the front of the engine bay to the vaccum pump--under jack in engine--and the other end going through the firewall down to the the brake pedal--may have to remove pedal fascia to access. Either way, the main areas of vaccum tube failure are the vaccum pump--hard to get to in a way--and the t connector....good luck in the future!
