Hi, I've recently bought a 99 D2 TD5 Auto. I want to disable the alarm and immobilizer by setting the BCU to key disarm. My problem is that everytime I go into Valeo BCU, and then Settings, the menu appears and nothing is selectable. The dash lights all go out, the only thing that stays on is the mileage and that resets to 0.
I've used the nanocom to diagnose my 3 amigo issue and to get my EKA code.
Anyone enlighten me as to what I'm doing wrong or what the issue could possibly be?
Gonna hop on this thread to see if maybe this will help my ongoing issue... would disabling the EKA also disable the flashing red light/alarm on the dash when you lock the doors?
~30 seconds after I turn off the car the red alarm light on the dash cluster will start blinking automatically, as if I locked the car.
I need to hit the unlock button on the key fob before I'm able to start the car again. I thought it was the immobilizer at first since the symptoms are very similar.
Is it possible that there's some aftermarket security system that is causing this to happen?
The Nanocom is just a really old, really slow programming unit. Think Unix, or DOS, not Windows. I found that you have to be patient when programming the settings in the BCU, like really really patient. Reading the instructions for the unit and how to use it on the D2 alludes to this in multiple places, but it is easy to miss. You literally just wait for selections to appear, click on what you want, and wait some more, lots more. The instructions show you what options are under each selection and what they do or mean, so I literally made a list of each before hooking up the programmer, that way I wouldn't have to do it more than once (or twice if I'm being honest, first time taught me the lesson, lol). Like studying for a darn test and creating a cheat sheet or something, but it was worth it, lol.
Here's a link to the Discovery II Valeo BCU ECU Guide download from the Nanocom web site. It covers all the BCU settings, including immobilization and alarms.
I have found it to be not well written, but hey, it's better than nothing!
Thanks so much for posting that. Inside that post was a breadcrumb to an old TSB that has the exact symptoms that I'm experiencing which is that the vehicle don't crank 30 seconds after being unlocked.
It's called Passive Immobilization. Here's the thread from another forum and the official TSB. Crappy thing is that to correct this you have to fit and reprogram new BCU using a Testbook.
I recently got my nanocom and turned on pi without knowing what it was, had to turn it off but was able to do so with the nanocom. I don't think it will be a problem turning it off with the nanocom.

I sent you an email yesterday requesting to rent your nanocom for that exact purpose actually. I didn't see a response back yet just want to make sure you got it. Would be a huge help to me!
Edit: Just checked my email settings and it was set to a really old email from college. Sending you a new email now
