thank you all for the great advice..the dealer said we could test drive it as long as we wanted to tomorrow so we are going to take it for a longer drive tomorrow and get out on the interstate with it...and after DH will check out the engine top and bottom.. He's mechanically inclined , it just isn't something he wants to mess with. He prefers letting someone else change the oil and such in our vehicles.

keeping my fingers crossed.

Again, expect to put $1000 or more into the vehicle immediately, and make an offer accordingly. This is not a plug-and-play, gas-and-drive truck. If you know what you're getting into though, you'll love the truck.

Again, you must use premium gas, no if's and's or but's about it.
Your MPG will be lower if you dont.
And it is required per Land Rover.

And get that Warthog wrench wielder to download the RAVE service manual package. You can also search all of craigslist for your state or any other state, for "rover", and find everything sorted by city. Do that on statewidelist.com. for comparison prices

Ok, I have a question. If the previous owner(s) didn't use premium fuel what damage would it have caused? Is there any way to know for sure and if you just start using premium the damage obviously won't go away but can it be minimized?

It depends on how long they used regular for. A little does here and there wont harm it that much. Full tanks for months/years on end will have severly impacted the motor's longetivity.
