need advice- transmission cooling problem
Greetings
I just wanted some advice, i am in Montana and nearest LR dealership is in Utah?. I have a 99 DII, today i noticed a huge puddle on the ground. This morning the vehicle drove fine, stick shift just seemed to be a little "hard" when i put it on drive from park.
Initially i thought it was transmission fluid, but when i raised the hood, i noticed my radiator fluid reservoir was empty. I added fluid and drove it around the block--radiator fluid reservoir empty. got under the vehicle unsure were the fluid was comming from. It originally starts were the transmission cooling pipes pass near the front of the gear box(not a mechanic, just looked at pictures/reading). I ran my hand as best as i could around the cooling pipes from the radiator to check for fluid, but only checked near the transmission since the rest of the pipes looked dry. I cant seem to find a leak in the pipes. Checking around that area is kind of tight as it is, not to mention i have to run the vehicle for it to leak, which also puts me near the exhaust pipes that i already burned my hand on . hehe
The fluid does not pour, it just drips around the front of the gear box and unto the floor. I was thinking of changing the hose/pipe from the radiator all the way to the transmission to see if that fixed the problem. My question to you gentleman/ladies is if i am missing something or if their is another cause to my problem. I want to try and fix the issue myself if its a small thing, i rather not try and take my vehicle to a local mechanic unless its a huge task. Thats if i can even find a local mechanic that has experience with LRs which i seriously doubt since i live in a small city.
Thank you in advance for any suggestions/tips
