I'm planning on buying a DiscoII and have narrowed it down to 2, both at the same dealership. Here are the specs.

2001 DiscoII SE7 - $18,900 - 41,000 miles - Kent Green w/ Tan Leather - 16" wheels w/new tires
Dealership replaced headgasket, front rotors, all brake pads when they took it in

2002 DiscoII SE - $17,900 - 67,000 miles - Silver w/ Grey Leather - Brush Guard and taillight covers - 18" wheels/tires about half tread
Dealership replaced intake manifold gasket and misc bulbs and such when they took it in

Other than the jump seats, both cars have the same options.

Both vehicles come with a 12mo/12,000 mile warranty, and both are in about the same shape and drive the same.

This will not be my everyday vehicle, mainly a weekend vehicle (about 5,000 - 8,000 miles/year).

Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated since this is my first Rover and I have no idea what I'm doing. Also, anything I should look for or any advice to negotiate the price down would be super!

 

Both of them are too expensive for the current market.
What do you want to do with a Disco once you buy it?
Will you be doing alot of 4wheeling?

Not really doing any 4wheeling, except getting to various mountain biking and kayaking spots. I know they are too expensive, I haven't even started trying to talk them down yet. I wanted to decide which one I wanted before negotiating. By the way, I forgot to mention, these are both at the local Land Rover dealer if that makes a difference.

What would be a fair ballpark price for either of these, considering the 12/12,000 warranty and Land Rover dealer reconditioning (they are both in excellent shape)?

 

I bought my '03 SE with 40k for $17k in Feb. I don't feel like I got that great of a deal...

They're trying to hurt you.

 

FYI We bought our '04 with 38k miles back in 11/06 for $20k, still under factory warranty. Shop around and find the newest one you can under warranty that way you won't have to spend a ton fixing the fella up front

 

Right now, go for buying private. There are so many land rover owners trying to run away from it, i am sure you can get a steal if you look hard enough with some patience.

 

I would price them on Ebay to get an ideal what they are going for.
Then add whatever you thing the warranty and piece of mind is worth
from buying them from the local dealer.

We test drove a 01, with 87,000 about two weeks ago. Small car lot, they where asking $11,500. No warranty
