I never have changed any O2 sensors since I've owned it. I'm not certain if previous owners have either. I did have a possible explanation. Don't know - maybe?

When I changed the plugs and wires I had to remove the IACV. I noticed that the passenger side hose with the metal collar that I assume is built into the intake plenum came off with the hose. (I hope this makes sense; let me know if you need further explanation.) I just decided to re-insert the hose and metal collar back onto the plenum and tighten the corresponding clamp. I figured "Since this is simply just sucking air it should be okay." Besides, my truck idles just fine.

This to me seems to be the most obvious leak point. But would there be enough of a leak to set off all of these monitors and my 171 and 174 codes? By the way, remember that I had these codes (including the 447) and monitors before I started my wires. I guess it is possible that this metal collar was broken all along, but I'm not sure. If it is, what would be possible ways to fix it?

Sorry if I'm rambling on...I'm trying to reason this out in my head and any help anyone can give would be appreciated.

i think you are talking about an alligator clip. if it is broken it needs to be replaced as it seals the intake so it hold sa constant vacuum. at your mileage the o2's probably need to be replaced. They last about 60,000k. You have to do all 4 at once. Shop around you can get them for as cheap as $70 a piece without having to splice wires and all that. take a picture of what you are tlaking about first and post it so i can make sure what you are talking about.

Here's what I'm talking about, not the alligator clip or clamp. The lower arrow is pointing to the attachment point on the plenum where the metal pipe came off with the hose. I replaced the metal/hose together back into the plenum. Could this be where my monitors/codes are coming from?

Default update to original posts:

Okay. Never mind the photo; I'm normally pretty good at that sort of thing, but I just can't be bothered. Besides, I fixed the pipe that I was referring to in my earlier posts, cleared the codes, fired her up, and within 20 miles got the exact same codes and monitors. So apparently that was not the problem. I have been reading where others have had intake leaks and checked their intake pipe (from the airbox to the throttle body) and found tears. I have found no tears. However this morning I was driving home and the light went off! How strange is that? So far it hasn't come back on.

I later washed the engine bay and undercarriage and then started her up. I received codes P0171, P0174, pending P0300, P0303, and P0304. Also the same barrage of monitors (fuel, evap, comp, O2 sensor, O2 heater, misfire, catalyst). The truck ran rough for about 5-10 minutes, but then everything seemed fine. I'm assuming this rough running condition is not out of the ordinary considering the washing. But I'm still without any recent ideas. Ed - do you think it could still be O2 sensors? Anyone?

i think you have a vacuum leak still and i think you need 4 o2's at your mileage anyway. if you were throwing a 0734 then i would say the MAF is dead...

Just saw your post and wanted to suggest you get all your current codes as of today and get back to us with the 4 digiti numbers not you interpertation of what you see them to be, then we can give a lot more accurate feed back.

As of right now (Thurs. 9/2/10) they are P0171 and P0174. None others. The monitors are reading "Fuel, Evap, Catalyst, Misfire, Comp, O2 Sensor, and O2 Heater." The SES light is on again. Unfortunately, I don't have a decent scanner to suggest what my problem is, just the Actron $50 cheapie. If this isn't specific enough, I apologize. This is all the information I am getting from my reading. Thanks again for your help with this, Ed and Mike. Let me know what other info. I can provide.

we just need the numbers. no explanations. the cheap scanners will give you the correct codes but sometimes incorrect explanations for what that codes means.
if your active faults are 0171 and 0174 then i say search for a vacuum leak. when was the last time your o2's were replace? they can cause misfires if they are dying or dead.

I already stated in an earlier post that my O2 sensors have not been replaced since I have had the truck. I guess I'll start with them? Thanks guys.
