Default Need help!

Anybody around the lansing, Mi area with a torch? Or anyone know a muffler shop thats not going to charge me $60 to heat a flange and pull a stud. Very frustrating when you can do the work yourself but don't have the tools. Thanks to anyone that can help!!!!

What flange are you trying to loosen?
Exhaust manifold?

Yep! Manifold to y-pipe. I've got a broken stud that I can put some pliers on but just wont budge. I don't want to break it even more so I was just going to heat it up. Mapp gas takes forever and it didn't do a thing.

Yeah I hear ya.
$60 is alittle high, my guy at Muffler Man here in Grandville would do it for cheap cash but thats over a hour drive for you.
It would cost you $60 in gas just to get over here and back.

He wanted to cut the pipe (pass side) right b4 the cat so he could get at it and then weld it back.

shonuff93,

I had the same issue with both manifolds and I took it to a shop just up the road... Just a hole in the wall shop with a few crackpot guys (more pot than crack

I stopped in when they first opened and walked up into the garage with the manifolds in my hand. before I knew it he had the flange red hot and a pair of visegrips on it. They came right out. handed the guy 20bucks and told him "lunch" was on me today.

Just remember to retap the threads before sticking a new bolt in there.
