Default Need help diagnosing

So my daughter in Denver had her rig serviced (oil change, air filter, grease). After she got it back she now has a massive oil leak and she is getting P0174 and P0171. She is explaining this to me over the phone.

The oil leak I am hoping is just a loose filter. Believe it or not about 1 out of 20 cars that I used to get back did not have the filters tight which is why I do my own oil now.

The MAF codes I think might be an air leak between the air box and the intake. I think maybe the housing was not re-installed correctly after the air filter was changed.

I would talk to the mechanic but I can't get past the lady who answers the phone and english is not her first language.

Any thoughts on the 0171/0174? If it is a bad MAF would the sensor only solution from autozone be a quality unit?

Next time she needs her d2 serviced have her go to Roadside Werx or JC'c British. I think you are on the right track with either the filter or they didn't tighten the drain plug, dirty union between bolt, washer and pan, or no washer? Where in Denver is she? I live downtown and could possibly swing by and take a look in the next few days...can't promise anything, my schedule is a little out of control of late. But the guys at Roadside or JC's are top notch folks and are independent rover shops. MAF could also have gotten dirty and just needs a quick spray with electrical contact cleaner. I'd try that before buying new sensors.

She is at the Mines in Golden but is currently at a shop in Eagle. Thanks for the tip on good shops in Denver as she will be back there saturday. I called the shop where she went and chewed a ton of ***. They are currently going back thru it to see what went wrong. Your offer to look at it was damn nice and I appreciate it. When your daughter calls crying her eyes out it can eat at you.

what is 'massive'? Too low to run the engine? bearings damaged?

I wouldn't take it anywhere but those two shops pending an emergency in the future. And of course! If it was closer I wouldn't have minded one bit. Only takes a few minutes to clean a MAF and check filter/drain plug. Hope it gets squared away quickly!

The situation got resolved. The oil leak was from the old gasket still on when the new oil filter was installed. The maf issue is fixed but didnt hear what the issue was. Maybe they didnt plug it back in.

I looked up those two shops and told her to use roadside weed from here on out. Thanks for that tip.
