Default Need help diagnosing SLS chime on lifted ’99 Discovery 2

Hey everyone,

I just picked up a 1999 Discovery 2 (gas, LHD) and I’m chasing an SLS chime issue that kicks in right around 15 mph. I’ve searched through a bunch of older threads, checked the usual suspects, and wanted to sanity-check what I’m seeing before I start pulling relays or doing a coil conversion.

Here’s what’s happening:

  • The truck is lifted (looks like a mild suspension lift from the previous owner).
  • The chime only starts once I’m moving ~15 mph, never at idle.
  • Hitting the SLS raise button did silence it once, but hasn’t worked since.
  • No sagging overnight. Both airbags hold pressure and sit level.
  • No warning lights on the dash.
  • HDC is off, and the truck is definitely in High Range.
  • Assume it’s an SLS height sensor / calibration issue based on what I’ve read.

I know the lift can throw off the sensor geometry, so my question is:

Before I pull the R5 relay to stop the chime, is there anything else inside the cabin or SLS-related that I should check or reset on a lifted D2?

(Already checked the sensor linkages but they look intact. Haven’t recalibrated yet because I need to track down a Nanocom or Hawkeye.)

Any insight appreciated. Not trying to ask a lazy question—just want to make sure I’m not overlooking something obvious before I disable the system or schedule a recalibration.

Thanks in advance.
