Default OME Suspension Kit with SLS Air Springs or NO SLS with Coil Springs??

Hi everybody, its time to get the OME kit in my 04d2.
not planning on any lift just the OME read you can get pretty good lift enough for what i need it for?

My question to all is:
1.-how susceptible is it that the pumps and all the other components will fail in the middle of nowhere from the SLS?

2.-how often do you use your SLS feature on your D2?

3.-just take out the bags and put in springs and get a lot more solid?

4.-feel any differance driving with SLS and with Springs?

PROS:
would always carry some spare bags.
that extra lift in the rear could come in handy some day.
like the sound it make with the compressor haha.

CONS:
middle of nowhere and a pump goes bad.
will the bags support roof rack and extra weight more than what is designed for?

thanks any feedback is really appreciated good or bad its all good

Thanks

1 About the same as a diff, drive line, radiator failure
2 The SLS is continually work as long as the key is on
3 Why are you in should a hurry to get rid of something you know nothing about??????????
4 You don't ride with both but only one.

Before you start this project, consider reading up on your SLS, maybe crawl under the truck and see what is there.

saw the air bag instead of a spring that is my worry

read the workshop manual and saw what is needed to do the change from one to the other

thought changing from air spring to coil spring would be more solid

can get rid of these going bad in the middle of nowhere

5 RH Height sensor
9 LH Height sensor
10 Air supply unit
11 SLABS ECU

less things to worry about breaking

i am in no hurry

is there something i should know about SLS that you know more of??????? enlighten me as i dont know nothing and am here to learn from people like you and the resources available

by the way thanks to "mwindth" thanks for the manual link very usefull

Here is my 99 D2 with SLS and ACE at over 100,000 miles of trails, the likes of which most people can only dream of. This all the answer you should need.

Mike your D2 is Amazing and it took you pretty good work but if you were to travel to lets say south america or just stay in colorado desert without being able to get parts for weeks and be in the middle of nowhere by yourself and no possibility of towing to anywhere relatively close to your home.... would you still keep your SLS air springs or go with Coil springs?? do you trust the SLS system that much.... maybe i would travel with extra air springs in case of anything but still.... do you get my question now???

that is my question to you

What happens when your fuel pump fails, how about your p/s pump, diff, t/case, engine, could be along list.
If you want to be guaranteed that your Disco won't let =you down, it will, and possibly often and getting rid of a few parts isn't going to prevent something from failing and leaving you stranded.
