Need help identifying engine displacement
Hello guys,
I currently own a 2003 land rover discovery II with the v8 engine, but I am having a hard time identifying whether it's a 4.0 or a 4.6 L engine. Is there an easy way to tell the difference? From what I've seen on the web, both engines look exactly alike from the exterior, but I was wondering if there were minor physical differences. Also, I know that the old 4.0 engine was replaced by the 4.6 L engine in 2003, but for some reason, I am not convinced that my disco has the later one. If there are any obvious physical differences, then please try to illustrate it on an engine's picture as I am not very good with the technical terms.
Thanks!

Nope. You could have heads from one engine and block from another. If you really want something to worry about, buy an Ultra Gauge and start looking and digital coolant temp..... or start thinking about what your oil PSI really is doing.... or that front propshaft that has not been rebuilt.... or the radiator full of Dexcool mud... And meet the therapist for these issues....

So, you don't listen well, all 03 and 04 's have 4.6 engine from the factory and as already mentioned they both look the same a a engine serial # is the only way to verify thru a dealer.
