Default Need help identifying if my motor is 4.0 or 4.6

Hi there, my disco is a 2003 s v8 automatic. The badge under the hood by radiator says displacement is 4.0, but mechanic is saying its 4.6. The engine block number is 08d07922h
Cr937.
it seems pretty powerful to be a 4.0 and im confused.
thank you all
This is the badge im talking about but confused as i thought all 03-04 had the 4.6 litre engine.

According to the RAVE the engine should be a 4.6 if it's an 03.

ENGINE - V8
12-2-6 DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION
Description
General
The V8 petrol engine is an eight cylinder, water cooled unit having two banks of four cylinders positioned at 90 degrees
to each other. The engine comprises five main castings - two cylinder heads, cylinder block, timing cover and the oil
sump, all of which are manufactured from aluminium alloy.
NAS market vehicles from 03 model year receive a 4.6 litre version of the V8 engine to replace the previous 4.0 litre
version.
Are you sure it's actually an 03?

You can use the Vin decoder to see what engine size is associated with it. https://landroverforums.com/forum/vindecoder.php
All 03 and 04 engines sold in the US should be be 4.6. Like the other guy said, you might not have an '03. What do your headlights look like?

I looked at your post history and saw you posted something similar before with a photo of your crank stamped with 4.0. If the crank is stamped with 4.0, then your engine has 4.0L displacement. My engine's crank is stamped with 4.6. If your car is indeed an '03, it is likely that the engine was changed, or they rebuilt it and put in a 4.0 crank+pistons+cam. The block and heads for the 4.0/4.6 engines are the same. As for power the 4.6 is only 15% more powerful than the 4.0, so it might be harder to notice the difference.

I don't think the engine was changed as the sticker on the rad support says 4.0L. I think it's more likely that it is an '02 that was sold in '03.

Yeah, it definitely is an '03/'04 since it has the facelift. Based on your plate, it isn't a north American model. Maybe they had different engine options in other countries so might be 4.0? Does it feel more powerful than the 4.0 disco you drove? If the previous 4.0 had a different intake manifold, the newer 4.0 manifold one made more power. But like I said, the vin decoder should tell you what engine size it has.

can it be a mistake that they have that sticker that says 4.0 even tho the motor is 4.6? Because I also put the VIN and it showed that it came with a 4.6 motor. Is there anything to be worried about?

Maybe that metal part of the car with the sticker was replaced if it was crashed, but the only way to know for sure is to see what is on the crank.
According to Wikipedia, "For the 2003 and 2004 model year, the Discovery II changed to the 4.6-litre V8 (though the only V8 offered in the UK continued to be the 4.0)." I also found listings of 03/04 discos for sale in England with the 4.0 motor. Since they actually did make 4.0 versions of the 03 and 04, its likely your car only has the 4.0. Its also probable that the vin decoder is wrong if it's only meant for north American vehicles.
