if it's an 03 it's a 4.6 plus your vin and block confirms that. Does the color code match the rest of the body onthe bulkhead? bulkhead could have been swapped as previously mentioned. I'm fairly certain the bulkhead has the paint code though maybe that's just on older d1s or classics. where are you located? if at sea level the 4.0 would be fine if that's what's in there. Off road there is zero issues with the 4.0, on highway depends on what tires and how much kit on car, here in CO that's true at least.

im not sure i seen colour information on the bulkhead. But today i went and seen another 4.6 disco and it had the same lettering as my engine so its a 4.6. I am located in lebanon 1,600 meters above sea level.

If your desire is off road performance might I suggest you stay away from any 03 model unless you have on hand or are willing to source and install the CDL front transfer case cover.

The ability to lock the center differential is a huge advantage off road, much more so than even having an extra 50 HP on tap.

Your 3 amigos will come on off road at some point and that could be the difference between getting out or being embarrassed by asking a 4 door jeep for help. They will require a rubber ducky at minimum for their time.
