Is there a trick I’m missing to get this reconnected. When I removed the door handle I hooked the small 1.5” rod that goes from handle to door actuator and pulled towards front of truck and that removed the rod from the ‘grommet’ which is green. I can’t reverse this procedure because I have no way to get tool in and pull with the right angle, even when I use the screw hole for the door handle on the door edge. I have tried to connect the rod on the actuator first, with actuator loose and then connect the door handle but there isn’t enough room to manipulate.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Thanks Extinct. Yes after trying it several different ways that seems to be the only way. Wish there was some special tool or procedure to make it easier without having to remove the window frame. Thanks.
Just wanted to update on this in case anyone has to replace anything in the rear passenger door. Watched a few YouTube videos that were workarounds for removing the door window frame making me think that was something difficult and you want to avoid. Going so far as to show in one video to bend the access hole lip to remove/replace lock actuator.
Knowing now how easy it is to remove the window frame. About 10 minutes and allowing plenty of access for internal door handle connection and actuator etc it is definitely way to go. Lack of videos or write ups on this tell me not many people are doing this or I am indeed a bit slow minded and this is a no brainer for everyone !!
What I was doing removing the door handles is having them painted with Line-X coating. Always bothered me how old the plastic made the truck look and not just Land Rovers. I do think using a spray can would probably yield somewhat same results that a Herculiner type spray would do and be a lot cheaper. Will see how this ages. My OCD took over during this process and I had a bunch of trim pieces done.
