@acg I have an idler new the box, but used the tensioner, let me know if you need a hand that bolt is really on there, 200 Ft/pounds I can drive out and we should be able to knock it off in a couple of hours it is actually pretty easy.

That tool you linked will not work for our trucks you need to stop the pulley from turning while you break the bolt loose, it would work to remove it but you should be able to rent it at CDN Tire much cheaper.

Here is a link to a tool another forum member made up https://landroverforums.com/forum/di...er-tool-59559/ that would be ideal

This video has an interesting idea for taking out the crankshaft bolt on a 2003 Disco:

I am still looking for a used crankshaft pulley as new ones are selling for a crazy $500+, not including the freight to Canada and customs duty.

Any thoughts on using the old pulley, but without the seal cover (arrowed part)?

I am thinking this as a temporary measure until I can locate a good used one in the days/weeks/months to come. My concern is with contamination, especially in the dusty or muddy off-road environment. Trying to get the Disco running soon with a possible 4-day wheeling event coming up in the next few weeks.

I used the method shown in post #22. The bolt come off with no problems. Surprisingly, the crankshaft pulley simply slipped right out of the crankshaft.

Still no luck locating another used crankshaft pulley (with an intact collar).

I may try and see if I can get someone to spot weld the collar back to my existing crankshaft pulley. The rubber (harmonic balancer) parts still looks in great condition, ie, no cracks. Might as well continue using it. Or I may run without the protective collar temporarily until I can find a replacement.
