Re: E-test - apparently you have to put 250 miles on your car after clearing codes before it will pass.

By my math, that's about $72.00 in gas......

geez.

Up to 188 miles since replacement, and no codes. We shall see. I'm starting to become a fan of used parts.

Same supplier gave me a set of michelin's off a 2004 that still had the nubs on them for $200.00. Not bad for a car with 18" wheels. Beats $1600+ from the store.

In the words of Genghis Khan - "Eagles may soar, but a weasel never gets sucked into a jet engine"

I've found the key to used parts is knowing when NOT to use them. This was definitely a place TO use them though.

MAF sensor is stupidly expensive for this truck.

Anyway, enough thread hijacking. Sorry.

re: MAF sensor is stupidly expensive for this truck.

For a 97 D1, Rock Auto has a new one for only $1515. I think I paid $16 for my spare from the salvage yard. D2 units are cheaper. What would be interesting is for one of the spread sheet mavens to tally up what just all possible parts cost would be at say Rover North prices.... we are driving some pretty posh preowned sheetmetal....

Rock Auto had a refurb for $119.99 + shipping. Others were $150+ online.

roverparts.com was $219+shipping for "genuine part"

Plus, DiscoMike has quite a few posts up about the aftermarket ones.....so I went low flying and vultured one.

But it worked, and truck passed emissions.

Yes, D1 parts are a little cheaper from what I have found. However, I have been informed by the better half that I am hereby discouraged from buying anything else with a v-8 in it.

Triumph Tiger anyone?
