Default Need some help finding dealer service records

Does anyone have access to dealer service records? My Disco is a one owner car, always serviced at the same dealer, but they are no longer an LR dealer.

I tried calling LR but they told me to contact the dealer.

Any help?

Unless you are the original owner or have a signed letter from the original owner, this information can not be give out to you.

Is that a land rover policy? I know all of the dealerships I've talked to have never had any issue just looking up service records by VIN number to tell me if they've ever done a certain service. It's in their best interest. If I call Honda and ask if a timing belt has ever been replaced and they show that THEY haven't done it.... they can go straight into the sales pitch.

I believe that it is a Federal issue. I know that after nearly 30 years in the business as a service manager all the dealers I worked for took a hard stand on this.

If they did something expensive, like head gsaket, that would have been part of the "polish" on the sales apple for you. If they did not brag about it, assume it was skipped. The only real info you can get to is recalls,

I was able to get mine with my VIN, but they were only able to give me the records of the work done at that particular dealership. I did have a "In" through a buddie's girlfriend that worked at the dealership though.

I emailed LR a few weeks ago and this is how they responded. It seems a dealer can release the information if they wish to...

Thank you for contacting the Land Rover Customer Relationship Center.
To obtain previous service history, please contact your local Land Rover retailer. You can locate your closest retailer with your zip code on our website, www.LandRover.com, under the "locate a retailer" tab.
Please be advised that vehicle service history is proprietary information. It is at the discretion of the individual Land Rover retailers to release this information.
If you have any questions or require additional information, please feel free to contact us at 1-800-637-6837, option 9, or by

They will probably be more helpful if you actually GO to the dealership. They may try to sell you a Range Rover, but at least you can walk out with your service records.
