Need some help here...... bought a 2003 Discovery SE V8
Hello to everyone. Feels good to be part of this group.
I need some help. How do I get the Rover Key Fob programmed to work with my Disco? I have one that wprks and another that needs to be programmed.
Need major help here..... I bought an EBC brake set up for my 03 Disco. I had a difficult time separating the alloy wheel from the bolt set up! What I was able to do was loosen the lugs on all 4 wheels 80% off, drive back and forth about 30 feet with abrupt stops. I was able to loosen the rear wheels from it's seized position. THE FRONT WHEELS WILL NOT SEPARATE FROM ITS SEIZED POSITION! Am I doing something wrong?
Any suggestions as to how I can free those wheels?

FYI.... I bought from www.autopartswarehouse.comthe 4 brake rotors and all the pads for $518 DELIVERED. It's an EBC branded brake set up. Green pads with drilled and slotted rotors. Based on the feedback, it's supposed to work well.

The dealer must program the fobs, at least $100, and this is you only options.
The wheels will come off when hit hard with a sledge hammer.
Don't forget to use lots of sound deadening spray and bleed apx. 3 pints of new DOT 4 thru the system.

I'm confused. Are the lugs not coming off or is the wheel itself not coming off? If it's the wheel, a rubber mallet can help. If it's the lugs try some penetrating oil. Sounds like you may live where there is an actual winter and the salt has seized the wheels on the hubs. AB has something that goes between the hub and wheel to prevent them from sticking. I can't find them but Spike knows what I'm talking about and can post a link.
Man, talk about pressure!! This will keep the rim from seizing to the rotors.
You can also coat the mating surface of the rotor (the part that touches the rim) with anti seize. Dis simler metals tend to stick together after repeated heating and cooling as well as getting road grime in between the two.

If you havent gotten the fronts off yet with the lugs off the studs turn the steering whel from left to right a couple of times. Take that back, leave to lugs screwed on a couple of threads so the wheels dont fall off.
The friction of the wheel and the pavement will loosen the rim from the rotor.

The lugs came off but the front rim will not separate from the brake rotor housing. Hitting the front tire with a sledge hammer...... will that bend or break any of the sensitive sterring components? I'm perplexed by the amount of force used to get off teh front wheels.... they're seized pretty badly. By driving with the lugs very loose I was able to free the rear wheels but why not the front ones? I don't want my mechanic to use THAT MUCH force to remove something..... I just have a bad feeling.
Has this ahppened to anyone else?

Yes it can take that much force. Think of it this way, you are driving down the highway at 70 and you hit a pothole, did you damage the truck?
Hitting the tire with a sledge hammer wont do any more damage than that. Just make sure that the tire is off the ground and all the lugs are out. The beat the hell out ofthe bottom of the tire. Hit the tire, NOT the rim.
Start with small taps, then get bigger asyou get madder at the*#&damn tire.
It will come off. It just needs persuation. Tap all the way around it. N-S-E-W paying special attention to "S".
The backs came off easier because they dont get as much heat as the fronts do. Your front brakes do 70% of your braking, thats why they are bigger. More work means more heat.
Drive at 50 mph sometime, slam on the brakes and come to a stop, now go and try and put your hand on the lug nuts of your tire. Then feel the backs. The fronts will burn you, the backs will just be warm.

The trouble is that hitting the tyre "absorbs" the shock, I would use a large lump of wood and clout that with a club hammeron the wheel itselfat different places, or as much of it as you can get to.
Same thing happened with my 03.
Mine originally came from Michigan,
my wheels were stuck much worse
on one side than the other,I guess from
road salt & grime? Sledgehammer to the
inside of the tire worked fine.

I DID IT! What I did differently this time was instead of just driving straight on a smooth road to break the seized metals..... I drove it around a 4 blocks going through the turns quickly and hitting the bumps in the road. It broke it loose!
Thank God!
I succeeded after on the 3rd try.
Just got my spare tire cover, weathertech cargo mat, stainless steel lines, and new air filter! Everything is in/on except for my EBC brake kit. Next week I'll have that done.
LOVE MY ROVER!
