Default nervous as hell

I just got to austin from houston and the disco drove excellent. I just got through yesterday doing my 60' service on the truck. Just left the resteraunt and the S light came on in the dash. I have my 2 year old son with me and we are leaving back to houston in the morning. What is the S light representing. Last time I had both the m & s light come 6 months ago it required a transmission fluid and filter change. It drove fine coming back from dinner but will it make the 250 mile journey home. Someone advise me of what I can do or need to do come morning time. Thanks so much for any help.

The "S" means sport mode, press the button next to the gear shift and it will shut off.

Besides getting you fixed, I would like to suggest you read your owner's manual cover to cover, a couple of times, then you will be able to answer these question by your self.
Let us know what happens today.

Yeah you can, pull off of a stoplight and if your shift points seem to be at a ridiculously high rpm for the speed your Disco is going forward you're in "Sport Mode". I got my Disco stuck in Drive with both the M and S lights lit up on the dash board, this turned out to be a low voltage problem and I replaced the battery. I DO NOT ADVOCATE THIS AS A FIX BUT I CAREFULLY STARTED THE TRUCK IN NEUTRAL WITH THE PARKING BRAKE ON AND THIS CANCELED OUT THE LOCK IN DRIVE,THE M AND I PRESSED THE SPORT BUTTON AND THAT SHUT OFF TOO. Please follow Mikes Advice Download the shop manual (S.T.A) , and Have your truck looked at by someone that can read Rover Error codes.

With the t/case in low, can you shift the mode button and will the "M" come on?

I'm stepping aside on this thread, I will say that when my DII Pulled HAL and electronically put me in a limp mode the first thing I tried was turning the truck on and off while the truck was shifted in both High and Low on the transfer case.(with a quick drive in both H and L to see if that would fix the warning light and shifting problem).

DiscoMike, If I had a manual I would have problably used it. Seeings that I was on my blackberry talking on this forum 200 miles from home I was limited on my resources on what to do. I did turn out to be the MODE button was stuck in Sports Mode. I guess when my son knocked his bottle off the arm rest it hit the button and jammed it some how. I was able to free it yesterday morning before heading back to Houston. Anyways thank you and everyone else for the information.

You can drive it all you want in sport mode, just your mpg will be slightly less.
