Default Neutral Switch: Has anyone tried this?

It's on top of the transfer case. I can't reach it, tried from multiple positions and I am not a short person.

Can't you reach it from inside with the center console out?

That would be possible, but quite an effort. Manual claims, just "raise the vehicle on ramp and then remove sensor". Seems impossible unless you are taller than 6'10".

That's a possibility. I will check that out when greasing the drive shaft next time.

EDIT: It is probably easier to reach when removing the handbrake. The drum blocks the access. I did the rear shaft just last summer and it was quite easy. The handbrake is just 4 more bolts.

This repair can wait. Just the "neutral" warning doesn't work, but it is good to have it.
