Default New CPS, truck idling way too high now

I had a new CPS installed — shop did it because I broke the connector on the ECU wire. They spliced in a new connector in addition to the crank sensor.

The truck is now idling at 2000rpm.

i just picked it up on Friday and haven’t driven it otherwise until today (Sunday)

Does the ECU need time to adjust to the new sensor?

They might not have put everything back properly. Could be a vacuum leak. I always recommend getting the adaptions reset whenever you work on your D2.

Well, oddly enough, it is now back to normal. I went for a few drives yesterday and today and after the third one, it was back to idling normally. Been consistent since then too.

Ideally you reset the adaptive values when swapping those parts so the ECU "forgets" all the minor compensations it was making in its relentless quest for efficiency (!). I don't know that high idle would be a result of not resetting it, but it sounds like the ECU has relearned on its own and you're back to normal.

Any idea if that reset be done with a nanocom? I was a little premature in declaring success yesterday. I went for a drive in the evening and it shot up to 2k when I started it, but eventually settled down to 800 or so.

I'm not qualified to comment with certainty but my guess is yes. I'm pretty sure I've seen the option in my Foxwell and it's a toy compared to the mighty Nanocom. One of the elders here will have the answer.

Did they install a Bosch CPS?
I installed an aftermarket CPS and the damn thing made my D2 rev up high and lurch forward during traffic stops. It was the weirdest ****. It was the only part I replaced so I knew that had to be the culprit.
Replaced it with a Bosch CPS and all has been well ever since.

Nanocom can reset adaptive values & yes Bosch CPS is the only way to go. Generic units die quickly.
