Unfortunately, looks like the head gasket (left side) is where the leak is originating from. Of course we'll replace the right side too. Quoted me $1650 to complete the job. Wish I had the time, tools and experience to do it myself, but no chance with my daily responsibilities. Damn! Wish I would have found this forum before I decided to buy that vehicle, would have made me a smarter shopper and known what to look for.

I didn't get it. Let me know what the mechanic says.

Glad to find a fellow Rover owner in Florida. Thanks for the information. I took it to www.europaorlando.com. They have serviced my BMW and Mercedes for several years with great results. So far, I'm happy with them, but will admit I'm a little nervous with them working on my Rover. I got the dreaded "head gasket" news yesterday, so I authorized the repair (FOR $1650) and expect it to be ready next week.

Make sure they resurface the heads to get a nice clean flat surface.

We have had good luck with www.e2orlando.com
Its own and run by 2 ex land rover factory techs.
They worked on my cars at the dealer so once they went out on their own it was a no brainer.we have owned many rovers starting with a 95 lwb, 95 disco,97 disco.

They currently service my 00 disco and the wifes 07 LR3.

they have the best prices and best customer service in town.

While you are having the work done, make sure you get a new t/stat and new 8 mm plug wires if they haven't been replaced yet.
