Default New Disco Need Help With P/S Problem

Just bought 01 Disco II over the weekend, knew it had PS leak, did not mind for the price. I replaced the two pressure hoses today, I still have no assist while sitting still. Here is the odd part to me, when increasing the RPMs while in park sitting still, the assist comes in. Is there air in the lines or bad PS pump. I am at a loss, there is fluid movement in the tank without increasing the RPMs. Hope you all can help, cause I have a few more concerns after this. LOL

May sound like an idiot, but what is the best way to bleed this system? I noticed the bleeder on the gear but other than that will the air work itself out with just regular in town driving ?

use the bleeder, with that steering box, its hard to get it all out. are there any stiff spots when you turn the wheel? you may be looking at more then just a bleed, but thats where id start

you could try the old side to side with the cap and motor off. hold it a bit at full turn and wait for bubbles. or better, do what he said

I just got done working on it again for the power steering, I noticed today my fluid is now metallic silver instead of clear? I am assuming the p/s pump is bad, since I would not think the gear box would gernade and send shrapnel through the system, the weird part is I never heard the pump make any noise. Is there such a thing as a rebuild kit for these pumps? I guess maybe I am old school, but does no one rebuild parts anymore? When I spin the pump while it is off the truck it hangs up in one spot, is this my problem or will the new one do that also?
