Hello Land Rover lovers, my name is Jake. I just recently bought a 2000 disco ii and even though I've always wanted this vehicle and have done a lot of research I want to hear from the enthusiast about what to expect.

Welcome to the gang. There will be some good, bad and ugly along the way, but if you hang around here...we can help you through the latter two and raise a glass when the former take place. Good luck, with your new addition. Post up some pictures soon.

Brian.

Get yourself a way to read live data from the OBD2 port, Ultragauge or an app, and you will soon know what you are in for.

Welcome!

First, as mentioned get an obdII tool to monitor temps.

Install a new 180 Genuine Thermostat or Britpart if u can find one. Or do the inline thermostat mod.

Be **** about maintenance and fluid.

Enjoy!!

Also, do the PCV mod asap. Get religious about checking your coolant level frequently.. More description on you truck and service history. After living with these for the better part of 4 years and 12 truck I would say depending on what has been changed already I would recommend you replace the entire cooling system, radiator, water pump, coolant tank, and all hoses. You will likely replace half of them when they fail anyway, just do it preventatively and you may avoid an overheat and the resulting head gasket job. Also, check the driveshaft immediately for grease joints at both ends - search the forums for it.
