Dan... You are really talking to a DUMMY when it comes to most major mechanical. I can do some stuff, but drive shafts are foreign to me.

With me you have no worries! I include the ny-lock nuts with my drive shaft
Wanna buy 1?

8 ny-lock nuts & 8 grade 8 or 3/8" bolts w/ 24TPI

Interesting you're focusing on what I said was the much less important, but since you have, there's a big difference between an off the cuff comment in a forum and a published advertisement.

You can't base it solely on if it's greaseable or not. A u-joint with zerk fittings that hasn't been greased in 20,000 miles is likely in worse shape than a sealed u-joint with 3 times that mileage.
If you don't know for a fact the u-joint has been lubed at least every 5,000 miles, and lubed correctly, then it should be replaced.

The stock bolts are grade 5. Ideally you don't want to mix grades.

Then you still need to take it to get balanced.... also the whole set-up and tube used is
Weak and can twist and break. Flanges can bend and balance can be thrown off a used factory drive shaft for these trucks is a paper weight or as stated a unique bathroom tool if your into things like that.

Look guys, you can rebuild your driveshaft, it IS possible, and many do it. If you stay on the road and use the DII to buy groceries then the rebuilt stock unit is perfect. If you want it to last longer, and want to go off road, buy an upgraded unit.

The stock propshaft is fine for probably 90% of drivers if it's properly maintained. Face it, Land Rovers aren't super high torque power houses.
265,000 miles on my '95, run 7.50x16's and I beat it off road and am not a gentle driver on the road. 3/4's of that is with a DII front prop.
