In doing your research you will prob find the 03 engines are cheaper. There is a reason for this. (Bad Oil pumps) Spend a little more and go straight up with an 04 engine. Many websites with post the 03-04 together, such as the one I provided at roverland, be sure to specify you want 2004 only.

I went from a 2004 4.6 to a 2002 4.6 direct fit. But definately stay away from the 03's.

It's better than a 04 for sure as there tolerances went to Sh%t every year more and more...
