Default New Front Mud Flaps Install.

Hi all,
I have removed the mounting bracket from the truck to pre-install the flap on the bracket and then re-install the bracket. My problem; most of the body bolts broke off removing the brackets. I can't tell how the bolts are fastened to the body. Kind of looks like they may have been welded. What I want to do is lift up the carpet and see if they are possibly a simple replaceable bolt. Has anyone here performed this already? Please share your knowledge. Thanks.

OK....I'll chime in.......LR likes to use what I'm going to call a "crush nut" in a lot of places, at least thats the way it is on my '98. It's a round alluminum nut that goes into a hole and then when the bolt is tightened it crushes down and secures itself to the hole, the bolt can then be removed and reinstalled, UNLESS....it all corrodes together as has happened with many of us. The easiest fix is probably to drill out enough of the old ones to get a new bolt through them, not sure about yours ...but you could possibly get a new bracket welded there ...maybe a little re-engineering ?

They are carriage bolts in from under the carpet.
